Le présent ouvrage, rédigé par un philosophe germaniste et hébraïsant, expose l'émergence d'un Emmanuel Levinas dans son entièreté, et dont l'idée centrale consiste à présenter le judaïsme, non pas comme une confession, mais comme une authentique catégorie de l'universel. Levinas a mis en avant les sources talmudiques, notamment le Midrash dont il donne de lumineuses interprétations éthico-philosophiques. Il a refusé de reprendre les enseignements des philosophes judéo-allemands du XIXe siècle qui avaient pourtant jeté les fondements du judaïsme moderne et contemporain. (...) Et s'est placé dans le sillage et sous la tutelle bienveillante du penseur qui a réinséré Dieu au coeur même de la spéculation philosophique, Franz Rosenzweig. L'apport considérable de ce philosophe-herméneute à la pensée de son temps a transcendé les frontières confessionnelles, linguistiques et géographiques. Ni philosophe juif ni Juif philosophe, mais simplement penseur universel attaché au logos, Levinas pourrait bien résumer le résultat de toutes ses spéculations par cette brève phrase, si récurrente sous sa plume : "Le bien est antérieur à l'être"... We briefly describe in this paper the passage from Mendeleev’s chemistry (1869) to atomic physics (in the 1900’s), nuclear physics (in 1932) and particle physics (from 1953 to 2006). We show how the consideration of symmetries, largely used in physics since the end of the 1920’s, gave rise to a new format of the periodic table in the 1970’s. More specifically, this paper is concerned with the application of the group SO(4,2)⊗SU(2) to the periodic table of chemical elements. It is (...) shown how the Madelung rule of the atomic shell model can be used to set up a periodic table that can be further rationalized via the group SO(4,2)⊗SU(2) and some of its sub-groups. One of the foundational texts of interpersonal psychoanalysis, _Prelogical Experience_ is a pioneering attempt to elaborate an interpersonal theory of personality that encompasses the nonpropositional, nonverbal dimension of human experience. Prelogical processes, the authors hold, cannot be consigned to infancy; rather they shape experience throughout life and are especially salient in relation to dreams, emotion, perception, and the arts. Of special note is Tauber and Green's elaboration of the clinical situation that grows out of an appreciation of prelogical experience. In (...) a striking anticipation of contemporary thinking, they approach patient-therapist interaction in terms of the continuous exchange of "presentational data" by patient and analyst. These data enable patient and therapist alike to "know" more about the other than can ever be expressed in propositional terms. This perspective assigns an important role to what Piaget would term "the cognitive unconscious" in the clinical process. It likewise sustains a view of the countertransference - which includes the analyst's own dreams - as a vital source of presentational data about the patient. As Donnel Stern notes in his Introduction, these and other insights "amount to a surprisingly contemporary description of psychoanalytic treatment.". (shrink)
